Yay. The bathroom is finally finished no more getting up before the sun and going up to my parents house to take a shower before I head off to work. You don't really know how hard it is to not have a shower until you don't have one. Thankfully my husband and father-in-law were able to finish it without killing each other. As my husband says the can't work together but they recreate well with each other.
As a matter of fact they both went ice fishing on Saturday. Unfortunately, it was a dull day and they had no success. However, they are planning a trip to Taylor Park, near Gunnison, in a few weeks. Taylor reservoir is supposed to have really good ice fishing. A few year back we went camping there for memorial day weekend and did very well.
Well we are supposed to get more snow this week. It is supposed to move in Tomorrow evening and leave sometime Saturday. We shall see. I'm a little snowed out. I'd like it to warm back up again please. Welcome to Colorado.

The Robe
So my church choir, for which I am a member, is trying to get new robes. The church just recently had new carpet installed and we figured that with the new carpet the choir needed new robes. The old ones are ancient, at least 15 to 20 years old. The problem is there is not enough money to get them. We have about $500 dollars right now and the robes that we are looking at are about $60 dollars a piece and keep in mind we need 40 of them. So now we are trying to come up with ways to raise money. Thoughts have gone to a spaghetti dinner, having the men's group sing and people have to pay them to make them stop. This one might go over great since quite a few of them can't sing (my father happens to be one of them.) So if you can think of a way to raise some money please let me know.
Have a great rest of the day.

Sad Day in Our Village
Today is a sad sad day in our village. There was a 5-alarm apartment fire that began around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. The entire building is a loss. There are many many people who lost everything. It has hit close to home here at work. One of our employees lost everything he had. So if you all would please pray for all the survivors of this fire and the firefighters and police officers that are still working this smoldering fire. There are not even sure if everyone got out as the firemen haven't been able to enter the building yet.

Also please do not forget your local Red Cross. They are the ones that step out of the woodwork and help people when this sort of thing happens. If you feel so inclined please donate to your local Red Cross in care of the the Red Cross of the Pikes Peak Region or go to their website http://www.pparc.org/.

Brought to you by the letters S N O W and the Number 5
Well we are once again digging out after our 5th bout with snow. I like snow, I think it makes our village look pretty but after the 5th week in a row of 2 or more inches, I am ready for a break. Please someone give us a break.
Well on top of all this snow my husband and father-in-law are remodeling our bathroom. We are wanting to sell our house and the bathroom was in bad shape, mostly cuz it was old. The house was built in 1950's. All the sheet rock and the floor was ripped out. The outside wall had to be re-framed as most of the wood had rotted. Well to cut a long story short, when it snows the bathroom doesn't get worked on cuz the guys have to go plow snow. O the joys of owning your own landscaping and lawn care business. In the winter you plow snow to make money.
Well I should have a bathroom back by Sunday. One can only hope anyway.
My husband, who has lived here all his life says he hasn't seen snow like this since he was a little kid, Early 80's.
Here is a picture of some of the snow. Check out the mailman delivering mail on Friday.

Happy New Year
Well we have reached the year 2007. Yahoo. I can't believe it is already the year 2007. Well my husband asked me New years Eve what we were doing that night. I said the same thing we do every year. You go to bed by 10 p.m. I stay up and wake you a midnight so you can see the fireworks on Pikes Peak. Yes they set off fireworks on that great mountain of ours.
Well on top of that we have had 3 snows in the past 3 weeks. Craziness I tell you on top of that they are calling for more friggin snow. Oy. Although that did make for some interesting pictures of our mountain. I've got quite a few in which the snow is swirling around the top. I must post soon.
Happy New year All.

Vegas and Christmas
So I'm back from Vegas. I know I should have gotten back here sooner, but I have been so busy getting ready for Christmas. It is that time of year again. I just love the Christmas music and decoration and such. This is also the time of year when the church Choir does its Christmas Cantata. I being one of the tenors will be participating. I am hoping all goes well. I also have the big part as the triangle player on the song The Little Drummer Boy. This should be interesting as I have not been in a band since my senior year of high school, a little more than 10 years ago.
Well about Vegas. Okay my husband and my first time going. So not only was it great that way but it was something thing we could revel in together. He has taken me quite a few places in our lovely state of Colorado that I have not been to but he has. My first impression of Vegas, don't believe everything you see on TV. It is a great place to see, but I definitely wouldn't want to live there. Also if you are going to visit. Try not to stay more than 4 or 5 days. Any more than that and you will be dealing with mega sensory overload and if you don't smoke you'll be trying to breath. So tried to see all that I could in the 4 days that we were there and still didn't see it all. Hopefully we get back there soon. Who knows. I hope to attach a few pictures when I get them.
Okay to get back to the Historian. I am still working may way through it. It is a really good book but it is a very heavy read. It is one of those books in which you need to read every word or you might just get lost. I know that seems strange but it is true. If you are the type of reader like I am you tend to skip over the a's, the's, its and so on. I'm about 1/2 way through, well maybe a little more than halfway. I'll fill you in on more once I'm finished.
Well all my Christmas decorations are up and the tree has been found and decorated. It didn't take my cat very long to curl up on the tree skirt under the tree. A cutie isn't he. Well I suppose I ought to get back to what I was doing. Ta Ta For Now.

Haven't The Time
Okay. Haven't been able to read much of The Historian, but so far so good. I hope to really get into it this week. I'm trying to read it in the midst of planning my trip with my family to Vegas. We leave on Thursday. Yahoo I'm outta here at exactly Noon on Thursday. It is unfortunate that I have to work that morning. I do the death notice at our local paper and people can't pick and choose when they get to go to that big library in the sky and each person in my tiny department has to work a holiday and I pulled Thanksgiving out of that hat. Not sure how much I'll get to read in my travels but I intend to take the book with me. Well that's about it for now. Happy Reading!!
P.S. My guys barely won by the skin of their teeth yet again.

So here I am again. I must tell you all. That I love to read, and I am one usually to read a book every one to two weeks. Although my favorites are authors such as Patricia Cornwell, Janet Evanovich and Sara Strohmeyer. I have branched out further than I used to. I used to be one of those readers that would pick certain authors and only read his or her stuff. When I a pre-teen I had read all of the R.L. Stines and Sweet Valley Twins. Now I see I must have been crazy, okay not really I read some good books. Judy Blume is one example. By the way she has some adult novels too. Check them out sometime. Well I just finished a book called The Revenge of the Kudzu Debutantes. The author, whom I can't remember her name at the moment, has only written this book. I hope to see more from her because this one was pretty good. Specially if you have ever thought you could come up with a plan to stick it to your lying, cheating lawyer husband. Today I am beginning The Historian, with has gotten rave reviews and has been compared to the likes of The Da Vinici Code. Which is unfortunate because I wouldn't have called the Da Vinci Code a great book it was good but not great.. But then again, I'm not the one to make those sorts of choices. So what are your favorite authors and why? I'm always willing to try new authors so please share. Happy Reading all.

So my beloved steelers are slowly self-destruction as the season wears on. Now I love football season and I try to watch every game that is aired. It is unfortunate that I live in the west and my team is in the east so I only get what is aired. I will always bleed black and gold but this season they are making it hard for me to sport my colors. I tell you some of the worst fans to defend yourself from are Bronco fans and next week guess who our opponents are. Well as always I will be true to my team in the hopes that Big Ben will sit out and maybe Charlie can win one for the fans. Don't get me wrong Ben is a good quarterback, but I just don't think he is 100% yet this season. Only time will tell I suppose. So this blog won't always be about the Steelers but today I felt the need to stand on my soapbox. Happy Week all. Until we meet again.
